1.27mm Pitch Quad Row Female Header Connector 4x40P High Density Through Hole PCB Socket

When a backplane has to hand a full parallel bus to a line card but the card edge is already committed to other functions, the only way forward is to increase density in the middle of the board. This 1.27mm quad row female header places four rows of forty contacts inside a body 5.4mm wide, delivering 160 circuits in a 51mm length. That is roughly three times the contact count of a dual row 2.54mm socket occupying the same board area, and it mates with plain fine pitch male posts rather than a proprietary high speed connector.

Four rows at 1.27mm pitch leave less than half a millimetre between adjacent contacts, so the insulator does most of the electrical work. Each contact sits in its own moulded cell with a full height wall, and the PA9T body keeps those walls true through 260 C reflow and continuous 105 C operation. Phosphor bronze springs are tuned to 0.7N per contact, which lets an operator seat a 160 way connector by hand without stressing the through hole joints.

Quad row fine pitch sockets are chosen where a wide control or data bus must cross a board boundary inside a compact chassis. Telecom line cards use them to bring address, control and status lines to a backplane without consuming card edge length. Automated test equipment uses them to fan a full probe array onto one interface. Medical imaging front ends and industrial vision controllers use them to move multi channel outputs to a processing board, and instrumentation designers use them where the connector outline must stay smaller than the board it serves.

Lengths from 4 x 10 to 4 x 40 are assembled from continuous strip so prototypes incur no tooling charge. We can supply a matched male header from the same drawing, add guide posts for blind mating, mould a polarising wall for single orientation insertion, and fit a metal hold down tab where vibration is expected. Plating options include 0.38 and 0.76 micron gold, and the insulator can move to PPS for higher temperature profiles. Every custom part ships with a recommended land pattern, a 3D model and a first article inspection report before volume release.

Each connector is counted into anti-static shielding bags with a desiccant sachet and a humidity indicator card, then packed into export-grade corrugated cartons carrying the CNJWY neutral label. Inner foam inserts keep the contact field clear of the carton wall, and carton gross weight is held under 15 kg so that air freight handling limits are respected. Sea freight shipments are palletised, stretch wrapped and strapped against container humidity. Own-brand labels, barcoded cartons and drop tested inner boxes can be supplied for distributors, and every lot ships with a dimensional report, a plating thickness certificate and a RoHS declaration taken from the same production batch.
